One of the most successful partnerships in the fashion industry has come to an end. Nicolas Ghesquiere is leaving Balenciaga, the house he resurrected in 1997 at the young age of 25. His point of view was always original and refreshing. Even though the concepts were totally different each season, his ability to stay consistent in his silhouettes was something that always caught my attention about his designs. In terms of creativity, Nicolas is up there with Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld and Miuccia Prada, whose designs not only push the envelopes of fashion each season but also inspires others to follow his trends for the seasons to come. Nicolas gave the fashion world great shows, whether it was glittery jackets, robot leggings, preppy blazers paired with gypsy scarves, or elegant infanta dresses, his collections were always highlights every season, credit also goes to the show and ad campaign stylist Marie-Amelie Sauve who always made the clothes stand out with her clean and on point styling. What he will do next is up in the air but in the meantime we can enjoy the legacy he left at Balenciaga.
